Sheriff’s Office Assists Herscher PD With Search Warrant & Arrests in Buckingham

On Monday, members of the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office and the Kankakee County Emergency Response Team (ERT) assisted the Herscher Police Department with the execution of a search warrant that led to the arrest of two individuals in Buckingham, Illinois.

The first arrest occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the 900 block of West Station Street in Kankakee. As officers attempted to speak with one of the suspects regarding an incident under investigation by the Herscher Police Department, the male subject became argumentative and combative. After a brief struggle, 48-year-old Anthony Hernandez, of Buckingham, was taken into custody. Hernandez was arrested on a Kankakee County warrant for Possession of a Firearm with a Revoked FOID.

A short time later, while ERT members were executing a search warrant related to the same investigation at a residence in the 200 block of South Elm Street in Buckingham, a vehicle bypassed police barricades and sped toward officers positioned around the home. The driver abruptly stopped within feet of several officers. The sole occupant, 45-year-old Cassandra S. Hernandez, also of Buckingham, exited the vehicle, began yelling, and aggressively approached officers. Despite multiple warnings to leave the property, she refused to comply and was subsequently taken into custody.

Cassandra Hernandez was booked into the Jerome Combs Detention Center on charges of Disorderly Conduct, Reckless Driving, and Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer.

The Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the collaborative efforts of all agencies involved in the safe execution of this operation.
